Pelmets

Pelmets can be added above curtains and blinds to create depth and interest to your window. They are ideal if you want to hide the tops of blinds like verticals or rollers as they will tuck up behind the pelmet. They can be straight or shaped and a variety of fabrics and trims added to create individuality.

Valances

Valances are another way of adding interest to the top of curtains and like pelmets, can be made straight or shaped. They hang in front of the curtains and hide other window treatment's hardware and add softness, colour and pattern. Whereas pelmets are flat, valances are fuller and drape like curtains. They can be made with a variety of headings and decorated with trims, braids and buttons.

Swags & Tails

Swags and tails make an elegant crown for curtains or blinds and are suitable for most windows. In a formal setting, they can be highly elaborate with various fabrics, braids and fringes. For a more contemporary look, try a "pelmet" swag with traditional tails or drape fabric around the pole.
